With the sun of The World Cup setting, it’s time to set our sights on league football once again. The grind of weekend league games, week day champions league and the occasional cup tie versus a non league side. In this preview we will be going over the entire league, but part 1 will highlight the transfers finished up till now and how they will impact the league. Future posts will talk about manager changes, title odds, cup challengers and relegation candidates.

Major Transfers (In order of fee)
Morgan Rogers, Aston Villa -> Chelsea, £117m
Villa lose maybe their best attacking threat, but at this price they don’t need to worry about Finacial Fair Play for seasons to coming. Chelsea land themselves a dynamic player who can create and score.
With Cole Palmer occupying a similar position it will be interesting how they both fit on the field together, but players of this quality always figure it out.

Elliot Anderson, Nottingham Forest -> Manchester City, £116m
Manchester City look to renew a midfield that has lost a number of veteran players recently.
Elliot is young and has a high motor, his offense can improve but he will be apart of this new City project for years.

Sandro Tonali, Newcastle -> Tottenham, £92.5m
Tonali is a box to box midfielder that has so much untapped potential.
Tottenham have a player that can do everything in their midfield, if he commits fully he could be an all time signing.

Mateus Fernandes, West Ham United -> Tottenham, £85m
The second swoop Tottenhams made in this transfer window, another box to box midfielder with high potential.
Different to Tonali, his ability to create going forward is so raw. If he’s able to create chances consistently, he will be able to flip games on their heads.

Jeremy Jacquet, Rennes -> Liverpool, £55m
With Konate leaving Liverpool on a free transfer, they needed to rebuild and recruit at the centerback position.
Jacquet is a talented young player from the french league, his range of passing will help liverpool in their build up and his 1v1 defending is top notch.

Johan Manzambi, Freiburg -> Aston Villa, £52m
After a incredible season where he led Freiburgs charge to the Europa League final, and was absolute star for Switzerland in the World Cup, Manzambi is here.
An all around baller, a creator that loves to carry the ball up the field to create chances for himself and teammates.
Has vibes of Jude Bellingham, but he’s still not at that level

Andrey Santos, Chelsea -> Manchester United, £48m
The brazilian spent a handful of years grinding in the french league, to join back his parent club Chelsea in the last January transfer window.
He’s a box to box midfielder with an eye for a pass. He’s not elite at any trait, but his game doesn’t have many holes.
With more time to develop it will be interesting to see what type of player he turns in to.

Bazoumana Toure, Hoffenheim -> Newcastle, £42m
After the departure of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, Newcastle has gone out and bought a like for like replacement.
He excels at 1v1 take ons, and pressing. He might not be an elite finisher, but his high motor will force mistakes from defenses and his pace will allow him to capitalize on it.

Geovany Quenda, Sporting CP -> Chelsea, £40m
A pacy young winger that can play outwide or at wingback is the perfect player for Xabi Alonso’s new Chelsea.
His versatility means you will definetly see him getting playing time from the get go.
He is young, and his offense can lack at times, but his tenacity getting forward will make him an exciting prospect.

Youri Tielemans, Aston Villa -> Manchester United, £35m
At one point Tielemans was one of the most sought after youth products in all of world football. After long stints at Leicester City and Aston Villa, he now joins a top team with big time aspirations.
He dazzled at the World Cup as he captained a fierce Belgian side. At his best this could be an absolute steal, his injury history and attitude could keep this from being an absolute home run.

Tarik Muharemovic, Sassuolo -> Leeds United, £34.1m
Hailing from Bosnia and Herzagovina, he’s a talented young player that showed elite creation off the wing in the Serie A last season.
His ability to strike the ball with both feet and beat defenders off the dribble will be critical for a leeds team that needed a spark a times last season.

Christos Tzolis, Club Brugge -> Arsenal, £34m
The greek international has been plying his trade in the Belgian pro league for the past two seasons.
He’s an aggressive runner, that attacks defenders and never saw a shot that he didn’t like.
After Arsenal moved on from Trossard, this is a fair replacement that will offer a change of pace to Arsenals attack.

Hayden Hackney, Middlesbrough -> Everton, £16m
A throwback kind of player. He can play all across the midfield and effect the game from multiple positions.
For the price he could be an absolute steal, but the jump from The Championship to the Premier League can be alot.

With the transfer window still open there will be more moves coming, but as of now these are some of the most signifcant changes to rosters this season.
There were some players left off this list, like Jan Paul van Hecke, Luka Vuskovic, Marco Palestra, Joao Gomes, and Victor Munoz.
These are quality players, but I dont think there impact is as important as the players talked about above.

My way to early pick for transfer of the season will be Johan Manzambi.
His talent might even surpass the player he was brought into replace, and I wouldn’t be suprised if clubs come calling after only 1 season at Villa.
